I'm happy with the quality of care at Brunswick. They're responsive, caring, and they follow-up if there's a question or issue. My mother said that the food is quite good. My mother was in this facility for 4 years in the Alzheimer's Unit. Overall the staff was very polite and helpful.
The apartments and the dining area were very nice. However, I didn't observe any activities other than a group of women playing Scrabble. We toured a couple of facilities, but this one we like the most. They gave the best care that they possibly could, and made my gramp's last few years a breeze. We couldn't have done it without them. They were all very kind and helpful throughout the entire time of his stay.

She never came down, so 15 minutes later I wheeled my mother down the hall in front of her. By then my mother's choking/coughing sounds had calmed down. The independent living is nice, but when he/she can no longer live "independently", they are transferred to assisted living which is a huge downgrade. I'm shocked the state has not shut down this place. There are not enough CNA's to help with the residents care and help with toileting. It's a disgrace that the elderly have to deal with this poor care. In addition, they have no washer and dryers in the apartment and they have it available in the hallway. I liked that it's a good location in a small town. It looks like they remodelled recently in the sitting areas and the social area but not in the apartments.
And because of Covid, we can't even visit and see what's going on. My mother went without a shower for a week and a half and when we told them, we were told that the aide checked it off so it was done. My mother talks to one of us everyday and tells us what is going on. Her roommate rang for someone to come help her go to the bathroom and it took 2 hours for somebody to show up. The woman wound up banging her wheelchair against the door to get attention.

The families need to participate in the care too..this is not a dumping station for old people. Go in and have a meal with your loved one, participate with them in an activity, make an appointment for their hair cuts if they are unable to. If the weather is warm outside, take them outside for awhile and chat. They do shower 2x a week at all nursing facilities. The days are usually posted in their room.
